Long before gaining global prominence as a world-class champion partier, Bode Miller had proven his mettle as one of alpine skiiing's most dominant -- and colorful -- athletes. During the approach to the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Nike formed a major advertising campaign around the unique personal philosophy of the incorrigible slalom-ite.
To help spread the word of "Bode-ism", ad giant Weiden + Kennedy turned to FG to create a series of comical viral web animations for the Nike campaign. Accompanying a soundtrack of Bode's potent quotables, FG devised a fantastical visual treatment: a pastiche of photographic elements which create a living collage.
The episodes find Bode and his animal friends in some of their favorite hangouts, expounding on topics such as his extreme training regimen, pushing his pain threshold, unwinding from the pressures of world-class competition, and his affinity for nakedness as a child.
This photographic style, combined with Bode's true voice, helps blur the line between reality and ridiculosity, creating a world where the impossible seems more than a bit plausible.
